How to get your School Website rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted
We are regularly asked by schools what makes an outstanding school websites in the eyes of Ofsted?
Our answer; simplicity, along with a friendly and professional design with lots of useful, informative content that can be communicated to parents effectively.
Ofsted do stipulate that a range of information from curriculum to school policies should be included in the website.
With over 15 years of working across the education sector, our passion is to provide every school we work with a School Website that they are proud of. From the design to the functionality of the website.
We ensure that the key features that Ofsted require are placed at the heart of every design. Your school will be easy to contact, with the use of click to call buttons if the user is using a mobile or has the option to make calls on a desktop.
We will put the exact link to your performance tables, not just the performance tables website. Your Ofsted report will be easily found on the website, we will also listen to your own positive thoughts on the report, and add these comments to the webpage.
Your curriculum is at the very heart of every child’s learning experience at the school, and parents are interested in this too. We encourage that each class / year has their own page to be proud of. Why not include a class blog, giving parents regular updates of learning that is taking place in the classroom. We encourage the use of generic photo’s and even VIDEO! Publishing has never been so easy with our easy-upload platform.
Publishing Pupil Premium is a mandatory requirement but we ensure the correct information is published including the academic year funding and not just the financial year, as parents understand the year as academic rather than financial. PE and Sports Funding must also be displayed.
For Year 7 we double-check that the Catch-Up Literacy and Numeracy premium is also published.
We also recommend that the Headteacher provides a suitable introduction to the school, including linking to the ethos and values page. Include a photo, we all want to see a friendly face who is responsible for the school!
Lots of this information can be easily added to your current website, however a fresh modern looking Smart School Website that adapts to tablets and phones can only be a good thing, and show to Ofsted and your parents of the school that first impressions count!
